Ok.  I've buckled.  I'm starting to write a blog.  I have selfish reasons though.  I'm not normally the kind of person who immediately thinks that what i think or have to say will necessarily be of interest to anyone else, but in this instance i really don't care.   You see, I saw this musician called Shara Worden play on Friday night at The Drake in Toronto (for the NXNE Festival) and she completely inspired me to the point of me being nearly in tears for her whole set.  She may be one of the best live performers i've ever seen in my life.   She is an absolutely important artist and i feel confident saying that unconditionally.  A person may or may not prefer her style, but the worth of her art is undeniable.  If you love music in its purest form, unencumbered by the trappings of pandering to the cult of personality, and are tired of the mediocrity that pervades the bulk of what we consume as music these days, go see Shara Worden play.  The fact that she even does what she does in public in and of itself to me is a bold statement and a brave one at that.  Anyway, you can see i'm gushing here, but the fact of the matter is, as i stated at the outset of this "piece":  I don't care.  If i contribute in some small way to getting the word out about Shara Worden, and that, by extension, contributes to her continuing to do her music and, me ultimately getting to see her play repeatedly and produce recordings, i'll be happy.  Like i said: selfish reasons.  But more than that, i think the kind of artist she is, and art she produces is good for the world overall.  Really.
